Thursday, 10th of October, 2024

We warmly invite you to join us to celebrate our special day at Wangat Lodge, Bandon Grove, NSW.

It will be a day time event, beginning with the reception at 11am (please arrive at 10.30am) at Wangat's amphitheatre before the festivities kick off in the lodge and on the deck with lunch at around 1pm.

The dress code is 'wear what makes you feel good'. We highly recommend flat sole shoes given the location is on the side of a hill in the bush. And they make for more comfortable dancing.

How to get here

By Car

Wangat Lodge is a 25 min drive from the neighbouring town Dungog, 1hr 15min from Newcastle Airport and 3hrs from Sydney.

By Flight

We recommend arriving at Newcastle Airport for quick and easy access to Wangat Lodge.

While you are here make the most of it and explore Dungog and the beautiful Barrington Tops region, the land of the Worimi and Wonnarua people. Our personal picks are:

- the historic town of Morpeth (once one of the busiest river ports in Australia) & treating yourself to to a delicious lunch at Boydell's Cellar Door

- a drink and a meal at the beautifully restored art deco era Royal Hotel

- A visit to the Farmer's Wife distillery, a classy but relaxed eatery in Allsworth and the home of one of Australia's most wonderful gins.

- Jerusalem Falls, Blue Gum, Telegherry and the Dungog Common and then further afield Polblue and Gloucester Tops for walking and time in nature.

- Our place! 259 Skimmings Gap Road. You are invited to join us for brunch there on Friday, 11th of October. Alternatively, get in touch with one of us to arrange another time to check it out.

- Dungog Wholefood Co-op. Grab some yummy treats to take on your adventures!

Sauna by Lagom Bower, a traditional Norwegian-style sauna, hosted by our dear friend Jillian, set amongst gardens in Dungog.

Kids
Kids are big part of our life and so they will be a big part of our wedding. All of our guests with children are encouraged to bring them along. For over 40 years, Wangat has been and continues to be many things for kids - an adventure playground, an observatory for the nature lovers and a retreat from busy school lives, glaring screens and beeping phones.

Things for children to do at Wangat:

  • a perfect environment for running around, hide-and-seek, climbing etc.

  • Mini court for volleyball, badminton and soccer

  • table tennis

  • adventure playground

  • chill out zone with comfy couches, books, board games, instruments etc.

  • observing and documenting flora and fauna day and night (e.g. spotlighting)

  • fishing (bass season has started!)

A few suggestions / rules to make the experience relaxing and safe for everyone:

  • children must keep the roof of the lodge within sight at all times

  • no play fighting, especially with sticks

  • bring clothes that can handle a bit of tough outdoor love (and feel free to get them changed anytime after the ceremony!)

  • ideally make it a tech free retreat, or at least keep devices in your rooms.
